Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor: My Stroke Of Insight

I came across Dr. Jill Taylor while watching Oprah and that was probably the most intellectual show I've ever seen. I got interested on the show because my Mom also had a stroke two and a half years ago, and thank God she survived it.

Dr. Taylor, a Brain Scientist, realized one day that her mind was completely deteriorated whereby she could not walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her life. Because of her understanding of how the brain works, Jill completely recovered her mind, brain and body. This is indeed a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another.

Here is the video from TED website. This is an 18-minute presentation at the TED conference in Monterey, CA on February 27, 2008. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design.

She also wrote a book, which is entitled My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey. Bad thing it isn't released yet in the Philippines. But this book is available online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Viking Penguin Group. So, for Philippine residents, better watch out for the release of this book on National Bookstore or at your local bookstore.
